This course introduces the student to the art of building and using models and simulations for analysis. It covers the major types of models and simulations, their key features and the process of developing those simulations. Topics addressed include simulation architectures; cost and risk analysis; experimental design; simulation control and interfaces; languages and hardware platforms; requirements and architecture definition; simulation design and implementation; verification, validation and accreditation; estimating, planning and controlling simulation efforts; and the current state-of-the-art for simulation.
