ENGL 396 - Methods of Teaching English in the Secondary Schools (3) This course examines how notions of race and ethnicity are represented, contested, and reconsidered in U.S. literature. Special attention will be paid to how race intersects with gender, sexuality, and class. Course readings are drawn from writers of a range of ethnic backgrounds. Recommended Preparation: Completion of 200-level literature course with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
