CSST 353 - Sociology of Families (3)


This course provides an overview of families from a sociological perspective by examining families as social institutions. Topics covered include historical changes in family forms, definitions of who counts as part of families, family diversity, family formation and dissolution, family violence, family policy, and differential experiences based on intersectional inequalities such as sexuality, gender, race/ethnicity, class, and citizenship. Recommended Preparation: SOCY 101  or ANTH 211 .
