ECON 471 - Money and Capital Markets(3.00) Analysis of portfolio theory and the role of finance in the economy. Survey of sources and uses of funds of the major financial institutions in the contemporary American economy. Analysis of sources of funds, organizational structure, yields, and the impact on the macroeconomy of major money markets (federal funds, commercial paper, Treasury bills, etc.) and capital markets (state and local government securities, mortgages, bonds and stocks). Major international financial markets (foreign exchange, Euro-dollars) are discussed briefly.
