Major Requirements
- Minimum 61 credits
- All courses for major requirements must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
Electives (18-24 credits)
Excluding MATH 380 , MATH 432 , STAT 350 , and STAT 351 , additional courses in mathematics or statistics numbered 300 or higher, and at least 9 credits at the 400 level.
Supplementary Requirements (6-8 credits)
Mathematics and statistics have proven indispensable in many disciplines in the physical sciences, the social sciences and even in the humanities and arts. Much of mathematics and statistics has developed with a view toward its applications in other fields. To develop an appreciation of the connection, mathematics majors are required to take additional courses from other departments reflecting these interconnections.
Validation by Educational Experience
Students in the actuarial science specialty are advised to take the following courses that have been approved by Society of Actuaries to satisfy its Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) requirement in applied statistics, economics, and corporate finance.
