Literature Minor

English offers a Literature Minor for students who wish to augment their knowledge of English and American literature while also refining their skills in close reading and critical interpretation of literary texts.

Minor Requirements

Minimum 18 credits at the 200-level or above
Minimum grade of ‘C’ in courses applied to the minor

Course Requirements

Required Core Courses (6 credits)

Complete the following:

ENGL 250 - Introduction to Shakespeare (3)
ENGL 301 - Analysis of Literary Language (3)

Elective Requirement (12 credits)

Complete 12 credits of English courses, including a minimum of 6 credits at the 300- or 400-level and a minimum of 3 courses in literature. With the approval of the minor advisor, one literature course from a department other than English may be counted for minor credit.
