PHIL 332 - Philosophy of the Asian Martial Arts (3) A critical survey of the classical philosophical literature of the Asian martial arts. The original writings of some pre-eminent Asian philosophers, sages and martial artists will be examined and discussed. Topics include the nature of philosophy in Asian culture; the conceptual relations between Confucianism, Taoism, Zen Buddhism and the philosophy of the Asian martial arts; the values and ethics of warriorship and the role the philosophy of the martial arts has played in shaping some Asian cultures.
