MAED 556 - Discrete Mathematics and Problem Solving

Description: This course explores discrete mathematics and its applications in science and technology. Topics include logic and proof, induction and recursion, number theory, set theory, combinatorics and discrete probability, algorithms, algorithm analysis, and discrete structures. Students will use a variety of problem solving strategies and reflect upon the mathematical process of problem solving. Students will also investigate how discrete mathematics concepts are embedded in the national standards of K-12 mathematics courses and ways to teach discrete mathematics in the K-12 classroom.
