PHIL 395 - Philosophy of Physics(3.00) A study of the philosophical foundation of physics. We consider some of the major theories in the history of physics, such as Newtonian mechanics, relativity theory and quantum mechanics. A special emphasis will be given to the consideration of central concepts, such as time, matter, motion, force, field, geometry and probability, as well as famous scientific paradoxes. Some familiarity with central concepts of modern physics is presupposed.
