An examination of the issues and research related to work among older people and the termination of work at retirement. Specific topics addressed include the work career and aging, skill obsolescence, efficiency of older workers, age discrimination in employment, the retirement decision, differences in retirement by sex, consequences of retirement for health and economics, pension policy and implications for the future.
