Students interested in pursuing a career in public administration or other government service should consider completing the requirements for the minor in public administration/policy or, if qualified, the Certificate in Public Administration and Policy, in addition to completing the requirements for their chosen major.
Students electing to pursue the public administration/policy minor must complete 15 required and 3 elective credits for a total of 18 credits.
The five requried courses are:
POLI 250–Introduction to Public Administration and Policy
POLI 350–The Policy-Making Process
POLI 352–Administrative Law
POLI 353–Governmental Budgeting and Finanical Administration
POLI 354–Public Management and Personnel Systems
(Non-POLI majors may substitute for POLI 350 a policy-related course in their major subject with the approval of the minor coordinator.)
Students must also complete one elective course (3 credits). They may choose any course in the POLI 440-459 range.
Students majoring in political science may count no more than 3 courses from the POLI major toward the minor.
